His mother had already had three children - all thrown away with all the fishheads and remains, never alive.
But he was different, he fought for his life.
His crying caught the bystanders’ attention, making his mother charged guilty of attempted child murder and getting her hanged.

They brought him to an orphanage led by Madame Caillard.
She was really precise and gave every child exactly the same portion of food or drink, but she was also very rude.
All the other children, didn’t hate him, they really didn’t, they just feared him because they knew he was different.
Still they tried to kill him more than once.
He never spoke until he was twelve years old.

He was sold by Madame Gaillard when he was thirteen, to a tanner.
One day, he had the opportunity to go with his boss to the city.

As he waited, he received an exquisite scent - it seemed to him like he smelled a goddess.
He followed her scent, found her and finally killed her, though accidentally - he tried to muffle her, to prevent her from screaming upon his stark ugliness.
She choked.

The real beginning of the story is, when he becomes the apprentice of one of the biggest perfumers in Paris, Giuseppe Baldini, well he was it 20 years earlier but that`s not the point.
His mentor shows him to conserve a haze and takes full advantage of his offering.

Jean-Bapiste Grenouille leaves Paris with the motivation to learn how to conserve a scent.
During his new education, he kills woman after woman, to get his own magical perfume with 13 special scents.

Will he get away from this cruelty as an innocent or as a murderer?
